Johannesburg-based REdimension Capital has announced the final close of its Real Estate Technology & Sustainability Fund I, securing over R250 million in commitments. This fund stands as South Africa’s only dedicated vehicle for proptech and sustainability investments, underscoring a significant shift toward innovation in the built environment.
Strategic Investor Coalition
The fund’s closing was bolstered by new commitments from Hyprop Investments and RDC Property Group, alongside increased backing from existing investors such as Burstone Group, Growthpoint Properties, Rand Merchant Bank, Liberty Two Degrees, and Sphere Holdings. Collectively, these partners manage over 750 commercial properties and more than 12 million square meters of lettable space across South Africa. This extensive network provides portfolio companies with unparalleled access to market opportunities, pilot projects, and strategic partnerships.
Investment Thesis and Portfolio Development
Launched in July 2023, the fund focuses on scalable innovations that enhance operational efficiency, environmental performance, and user engagement within the real estate sector. Since its inception, the fund has curated a diverse portfolio of early-stage companies, including:
- Admyt: A ticketless parking and mobility solution, featuring Mallpass, a digital in-mall companion.
- RE-Tec Solutions: A tenant lifecycle and property management platform.
- The Good People Data Company: A platform offering onboarding, workflow, compliance, and data-as-a-service solutions.
- Rode Publications & Media: A provider of real estate market intelligence and analytics.
- Roomking: A platform connecting landlords and tenants in the informal rental market.
These investments align with the fund’s mission to drive digital transformation in the property sector, creating value for all stakeholders.
Execution Phase and Future Outlook
With the fund now fully capitalized, REdimension Capital is entering a decisive execution phase. The firm plans to deploy capital into a robust pipeline of early-stage technologies while deepening value creation within its existing portfolio. This includes leveraging its strategic investor network to support scaling across South Africa and into broader markets.
Co-founders Peter Clark and Matthew Marshall emphasize that true transformation
occurs where capital, innovation, and collaboration intersect. Their approach is to actively partner with portfolio companies—not only through funding but also by unlocking growth opportunities across the real estate value chain.
As the only fund of its kind in South Africa, REdimension Capital is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of property technology and sustainability in the region.
